NZD/USD breaks above 0.78 handle

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The New Zealand dollar advanced against the US counterpart in the late Asian session, extending gains for the third straight session, and largely mirroring gains from the Aussie pair.

Currently, the NZD/USD traded at 0.7796, up 0.20% on the day, close to day’s high at 0.7802 levels hit some minutes ago. The NZD/USD pair extended gains, despite a strengthening dollar, largely on the back of the Australian counterpart trading firmly against the US dollar. The Aussie remains boosted by the recently released housing data which surprised on the upside and pointed to sustained growth in the given sector. AUD/USD trades higher by 0.40% for the day at 0.8106 levels.

NZD/USD Technical Levels

To the upside, the next resistance is located at 0.7811 (Jan 6 High) and above which it could extend gains to 0.7851 (Dec 30 High) levels. To the downside, immediate support might be located at 0.7768 (Dec 30 Low) levels and below that at sub 0.7690 (Dec 23 Low) levels.

ECB QE and Greece election risks weighing on EUR and GBP – Westpac
