US stocks rise after two days of losses

US stocks ended sharply higher on Thursday, recovering after two days of losses as the dollar retreated from a 12-year high.

The BNZ-BusinessNZ performance of manufacturing index soared by 5.2 points in February to 55.9, a 29th straight month of expansion.
