German manufacturing PMI rises to 11-month high in March

FXStreet (Mumbai) - Markit/BME Germany Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index to 52.8 in March, up from 51.1 in February. The actual print surpassed the consensus estimate of 52.4.

PMI was driven by a sharp rise in production in March, with the rate of expansion the strongest in nearly one year. New orders received by German manufacturers also increased at an accelerated rate in March, with companies, witnessing an increase in new export business, they partly linked this to the weak Euro.

Input costs continued to fall in March, but the rate of reduction was much weaker than in February, while companies raised their selling prices for the first time since last October.
