German ZEW: Expect a rise in the readings for both current conditions and expectations – Lloyds Bank
Rhys Herbert, Research Analyst at Lloyds Bank, explains that the German ZEW survey will provide one of the first indications of the strength of the euro area economy in April and forecast a rise in the readings for both current conditions and expectations.
Key Quotes
“As a survey of financial analysts, the ZEW is probably a less reliable indicator of economic conditions than other business surveys, but its timely nature ensures that it receives attention. February European industrial production data for the euro area have been mixed with Germany higher on the month but France, Spain and Italy all down. We suspect this adds up to a modest decline in the aggregate euro area data.”
