Flash: Watch for busy end to January for FX Markets - Investec
FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Jonathan Pryor, Corporate Treasury Analyst at Investec is expecting a busier end to January than the sluggish start.
Key Quotes
"The final week in January looks set to be a busy one for currency markets with the highlights coming in the form of UK GDP and US consumer confidence on Tuesday, FOMC bond buying decision on Wednesday, and US Consumer confidence and personal consumption data on Thursday. We round the week off with EU CPI on Friday."
"Of these events the FOMC decision is likely to be the most eagerly anticipated, where we expect to see a further $10bn of tapering by the Fed, despite the sharp drop in December payrolls growth, which would cause more pain to global emerging markets. Looking at GDP, we anticipate strong figures from both the UK and US following a positive run of data for both economies."
