GBP/USD is still around 1.6640
FXStreet (Moscow) - GBP/USD spent the morning in very narrow 14-pip range trading around 1.6638 at the moment.
GBP/USD may get some fuel from Carney
The pair is trading close to 1.6650 resistance area, but yesterday’s attempts to break above it failed, and it retraced to 1.6630 zone. This week is going to be quite intensive in terms of fundamentals, but most of the data is scheduled on Wednesday. Thus, today we will have to pay attention to Bank of England Governor Carney speech at the annual MAIS lecture. Hardly the market will get anything new to move on, but the repetion is the mother of learning, and another bunch of dovish comments may put the pair under pressure with initial target at 1.6604 support level.
What are today’s key GBP/USD levels?
Today's central pivot point can be found at 1.6636, with support below at 1.6604, 1.6572 and 1.6540 with resistance above at 1.6668, 1.6700, and 1.6732. Hourly Moving Averages are largely bullish, with the 200SMA bearish at 1.6663, and the daily 20EMA flat at 1.6641. Hourly RSI is neutral at 50.
